The Mega Reactor is a unique form of landmark and complex that is only seen in de blob's Ministry of Ink. It comprises the majority of the total allocated area in Sector 2 and its only purpose is to power the forcefield protecting the Ministry from a direct assault. Nothing is known about it prior to the events of the level.

Description[]

The Mega Reactor is an doubly - enclosed landmark in which the inner enclosure cannot be entered into, as it is mostly protected by tall fences and towers that surround it. The complex is split into 2 areas with the Reactor itself being located in the middle. It is surrounded by its own lake of Ink in order to cool the reactor. The inner enclosure also has a hazard warning sticker surrounding the interior ink pool.

Interior Complex[]

It seems to be a freestanding structure with a cylindrical foundation. The base of the reactor is a form of spheroid (i.e. a sphere which is flattened at the poles). From this base, there are four unknown screw appendages, which are attached to the outside of the base. Above this is two sets of rings which are constantly spinning around the glass sphere in the centre. At the mid - points of the rings, there is a electric symbol on the outside with dispersion rings on the inside.

In the centre is a glass sphere, which is where the forcefield is generated. This is topped off with a cylindrical support for the convex bulb at the top.

Exterior Complex[]

The exterior complex is also filled with ink to cool the interior complex and other machinery. Like the interior, this also has tall walls with fences and towers surrounding it. The entrance of the complex has the top covered in spike traps, with it also being angled. As with this level, the exterior walls have ink running down it and can only be removed once the landmark is transformed.

Upon entering the complex for the first time, only one of the water pumps is visible - located in front of the interior complex housing the reactor. In front of that is a set of fuel rods of varying heights. Most of the rods at this point are covered in anti - colour paint, with some exceptions; the rods and the other two pumps are also submerged and would require the transformation of a pump in order for them to be raised. Wind cannons are located at the bottom of the pool to get back to the nearest water pump. Some groups of rods have a Z-Jump, making it easy to traverse the complex, as well as escaping it once transformed.

Strategy[]

A mission breakdown has been made for the level. See Colour Underground Missions (Ministry of Ink)

Upon entering the complex for the first time, you are tasked with lowering the ink levels in order to expose the fuel rods. There are three pumps that need to be transformed in the following order:

  • First Pump: 50 Green Points
  • Second Pump: 50 Blue Points
  • Third Pump: 50 Yellow Points

Use the Z-jumps to get between each pump. Upon the transformation of the last pump, all of the fuel rods will surface, and you will need to paint them in 3 sequences.

The first sequence takes place from the yellow pump clockwise and ends at the green pump. You will need to paint the First Sequence with: Yellow (10), Blue (10), Red (14), Purple (5) and Orange (8).

The second sequence takes place from the green pump back to the yellow pump via the blue pump. Paint the Second Sequence with: Blue (17), Purple (14) and Green (10). Watch out for Inkies and Heavies that will start spawning.

Finally, the third sequence is the same as the first sequence in terms of location, but it will remove the middle rod from each group, revealing a pool of ink. Whilst avoiding the inkies and ink, paint the Third and Final Sequence with: Blue (13), Purple (6) and Green (9).

Upon completion of the third sequence, the landmark is transformed, the ink will be removed, and a z-jump to Sector Gate 3 will spawn.
