Not to be confused with Soundtrack

Moods are musical tracks that can be chosen by the player before entering a level in de Blob and de Blob 2.

List of Moods[]

de Blob
[]

The player starts out with a handful of moods and unlocks a new one every time they complete a level. The player can choose any mood that they've unlocked to play in a level (except for Lake Raydia, which only allows you to play Victorious). Use the table below to see the information and some audio clips of the moods. Use the scroll bar at the bottom of this table to scroll left/right.

de Blob 2
[]

The player can only choose between three different modes that have been pre-set for each level (except for the Hypno Ray, which only allows to play Pan-Galactic). If the player attains an S rank on a level [barring the first and final levels], they unlock a fourth mood which is from the first game.

Unused songs

These are songs that were left in the game on accident. They were only made as tests, and were never planned to be put in game.

Inked

  • Used in an early demo of de Blob 1
  • This song was just an experiment with how the interactive music streams could potentially work, and was never intended to be in-game.
Inky
High

Low

  • This song was experimenting with the concept of music transforming from one thing to another. So, it starts out all dark and creepy, then it turns into something nice.

  • This was an experiment with ways to show how the music system could potentially work with licensed music.

  • This was an early version of the Inky Monster battle theme, found in the files of the leaked October 2010 de Blob 2 build.

Trivia[]

  • What would become Tranquil, either intentionally or not.

The opening cinematic of de Blob starts with music very similar to what would become Tranquil/Paradise Island (See audio on the right).
  • Unlike most other songs, Euphoric undergoes a key change during it's variations. Low 1, low 2, and medium 1 are all B minor, while medium 2 and high 1 are D major. This is the most pronounced key change of any in-game song. This key change is lost in the promotional soundtrack, as it only uses an edited high version.
    • In addition, the low 2 instrument stem persists in every variation of the song after it is introduced. This is unusual, as most songs do not retain their low variation stems when reaching their high variation.
  • Smooth is the only song to have both an 'Inked' and 'No Color' variation.
  • When using the Paint Tanker/Rainbow power in de Blob 1, songs immediately change to their high variation, but some without the brass. Smooth and Brazen, for example, do not retain their brass in the Rainbow power.
  • Revolutionary is the only song without a low version, every new variation adding instruments to the last.
  • Intrepid sounds very similar to Righteous, so much so that the latter may very well be a remix of the former.
  • Victorious' low variation is the fastest low variation of a song, already having many instruments and being more analogous to other moods' medium variants. This is likely owing to Victorious being the exclusive theme of the final level of the first game.
    • In addition, Victorious undergoes a time signature change between it's low and medium variations, swapping from 6:8 to 4:4 time. It is the only song to do this.
    • Victorious' progression is also different from other moods. During most of the Lake Raydia level, the song retains being in it's low variations. During the Comrade Black Robot boss-fight, however, it swaps to it's medium 1 variation. It then goes to medium 2, then the high variation with quieter horns, then the high variation with normal horns. After the fight the song returns to it's low 1 variation.
    • In de Blob 2 (DS), Victorious is exclusively played in the Launch Pad level, and only on it's high variation with normal horns.
    • In a similar line of thinking, Tranquil's high variation is one of the slowest high variations of a song, likely owing to the song being the theme of the first level of the game it's in.
  • Several themes appear in the game which do not appear in the promotional soundtracks. These are the following: Victorious, Energetic, all Sprint themes, the Inspiration Menu theme, Playful, the Inky Monster fight theme, and the Comrade Black fight theme.
  • Chilled's 'No Color' variation has drums, along with Smooth's and Spirited's.
  • The Inky Monster fight theme has stereo, unlike all other moods.
  • The high variation for the Inky Monster fight theme is almost completely restructured from the low and medium variations, being more drum and echo heavy. This is different from the usual "build-up" nature of most other songs.
  • Some fans refer to the Inky Monster fight theme as "Mungo", and it is referred to such in the game files.
  • Comrade Black High 3, with inverted Pan-Galactic Drums.

The Comrade Black fight theme uses almost the exact same drums as Pan-Galactic, with minor changes. Lining up the fight theme with Pan-Galactic's drums and inverting them proves this (see the audio on the right). With alterations and audio splicing, the drums can be cancelled out for the entire song as well.
    • At 2:04, the drums differ when they have no reason to. This is an error.

In addition, the 3 high variations of the Comrade Black fight theme actually contain an error with the drums, if you listen closely, around 2:04, you can hear two drum clips overlap for a measure, with the high sounds exemplified. To show this, pay attention to the audio on the right, where the left ear is the medium 2 variation, and the right ear the high 1 variation. Pay attention to the drums at 2:04, you'll notice them being different when they really shouldn't.
  • de Blob 2 (DS) features 6 songs, 1 for each world. These songs, in order, are Defiant, Blissful, Righteous, Funky, Empowered, Fearless, and Victorious.
